Greetings, one and all!
My name is Mrs. Sheila Tartaglia, and I teach religion for my 7A homeroom, science for grades 6, 7 & 8, and social studies for 8th grade.
I have been a teacher for 15 years, and I hold an MAT from The College of New Jersey, and a BA from Rutgers University. I have extensive experience teaching English Language Arts at the middle school level, and have also worked as an adjunct professor at Seton Hall University, where I taught courses in Public Relations. In addition to teaching and mentoring students, I have a corporate background in science writing, healthcare communications, and public relations.
I attended Our Lady of the Assumption School in Bayonne where my deep Catholic values and commitment to excellence were nurtured by the dedicated and caring nuns who taught me. I cherish those memories.
My background is African American and Indigenous American (Cherokee) on my father's side, and Polish on my mother's side. In fact, I'm a first-generation American on my maternal side, and enjoy speaking Polish now and then to my students of Polish descent.
It is wonderful to be able to return to my Catholic School roots, this time as a teacher! I am co-advisor of the school Yearbook, and am a member of the St. Martin de Porres Society at Saint Matthis.
I can be reached at startaglia@stmatthiasnj.org.
Yours in Fellowship,
Mrs. Tartaglia
